Pax Era was released in September 29, 2016. It is a portable electronic cigarette brand that is renowned for consistently creating a top quality e-hookah. The Pax Era is sleek, stylish and highly discreet, with its slender form measuring only 3 inches long. Unlike other vaporizers that require you to insert your own material, the Pax Era is a pre-filled concentrated oil or e-liquid that comes with insertable oil pods.
The vaporizer comes with an incredibly low price of $59.99 only. Loading the pre-filled Pax pods takes a second or two, and since it turns on instantly with no wait time for warming up, you can start enjoying the e-hookah pen immediately. The vaporizer also features a new SimpleClick design that makes it a literal snap to change out pods without messing. Overall, the Pax Era is an ideal option for those looking for a high quality oil vaporizer at an affordable price.
The Pax 2 Vaporizer is the second generation of the original Pax. The Pax 2 portable vaporizer is smaller, lighter and more durable when compared to the original Pax. It boasts a longer lasting battery, a deeper oven for more even heating and four different heat settings. Other innovative features of the Pax 2 include redesigned mouthpieces that are able to sense the presence of lips and optimize temp/power regulation during use. This feature makes the Pax series more efficient than other vaporizers in the markets, such as Firefly 2.
The Pax 2 is also one of the best vapes in terms of portability and discretion. The unit weighs 90.2 g and the exact dimensions are 3.87” tall, 1.21” wide and 0.8” deep. The original Pax weighed around 98 grams, so the Pax 2, is a bit smaller in size. This vaporizer holds about .30 to .40 grams of herbs depending on how coarse or fine the grind is, with the half-pack lid the oven holds .15 to .20 grams. If you are searching for a highly portable vaporizer, then Pax 2 is certainly what you are looking for. The vaporizer is rated at the top for portability and can be concealed very well. The Pax 2 retails for $199.99 only.
Pax 3 is the third generation of the Pax series and continues to improve while staying true to what makes the Pax so popular: ease of use, elegant look and feel, discreetness and portability along with a top tier reliability and warranty. The vaporizer is a two in one device that can be used for whole leaf as well as extracts. It comes with a Smartphone app that allows users to customize and personalize the device right from the screen of their phones.
When it is not ready to be used, this vaporizer vibrates which is a unique and interesting feature for a vaporizer. The battery power is a whopping 3500 mAh, and takes only 90 minutes to fully charge. The Pax 3 is available for $274.99, which may be some investment; however, after using the vape for a few days, you will believe it’s a must have for almost any vaper.
Pax 2 Vs. Pax 3 Vaporizer: Is the Upgrade Worth It?
PAX has redefined portable vaporizers by incorporating unique and interesting features combined with minimal designs. Their original vaporizer had some issues, not the least of which was a moving mouthpiece that literally needed constant lubrication. This led to the introduction of Pax 2, which was a major improvement of the original Pax. The Pax 2 designed was streamlined, mouthpiece simplified and the vapor channel and heating improved to a new standard that made it worth the upgrade for owners of the original. Thus, what improvements does the Pax 3 have, apart from a shinier finish? In this section we discuss the evolution from the Pax 2 to Pax 3 vaporizer by comparing the two products.
PAX 2 vs. PAX 3 Vaporizer Design
The Pax 2 boasts a handsome brushed anodized aluminum shell that comes in four colors: silver, red, aqua and black. It also features an LED indicator that shows the vaporizer’s status and an accelerometer that activates the heating element. The Pax 2 is noticeably slim and lighter, and fits really nicely in your hands when vaping. The entire device just looks super sleek and awesome.
The Pax 3 is also features an anodized aluminum body that make it strong and durability. The vaporizer comes in a variety of looks ranging from black to gold to Rose Gold. The high polished gloss finish make the device very and smooth than the earlier Pax 2 vaporizer. The only downside to changing the Pax’s 3 appearance would be that the gloss finish is prone to attracting fingerprints. However, the combination of high quality construction with a smooth look and feel makes the Pax 3 a perfect vaporizer for anywhere you may find yourself.
Size and Portability
The Pax 2 weighs 90.2 g and its exact dimensions are 3.87” tall, 1.21” wide and 0.8” deep. The dimensions of the oven are 18.5mm by 8.6mm by 10mm. This makes Pax 2 one of the best in terms of portability and discretion.
The Pax 3 has the same physical dimensions as the Pax 2, making it easy to fit in a pants pocket. It however over weighs three grams more than the Pax 2. The fact that these devices have similar physical dimensions and nearly the same weight distribution also means aftermarket accessories for Pax 2 will also work for the Pax 3. Its lightweight as well as the slim and sleek design makes it easy to carry outdoors.
The Pax 2 is small, really small. It measures less than 4 inches tall and features an oven with about 0.3 grams capacity. You can expect 15 to 25 draws from a fully packed oven making ideal for extended on-the-go sessions. With its inconspicuous gadget look, the Pax 2 can sit out on a table without attracting attention. It feels good on the hand, has some weight to it and most people are able to conceal it completely in their hand.
Just like the Pax 2, the Pax 3 vaporizer is one of the most discreet vaporizers currently available. It measures at a mere 3.87” tall and 1.2” wide. It can be easily concealed in your hand or slipped into a pocket if a situation arises. The Pax 3 also boasts a stealth mode that is meant to help keep your sessions on the down-low by dimming the logo light and aggressively cooling the chamber between draws to reduce the odor. By mixing this mode with a low temp setting, you should be able to get a decently discreet session with minimal odor.
PAX 2 vs. PAX 3 Vaporizer Build Quality
The Pax 2 is a wonderfully constructed device, using high quality materials and immaculate attention detail. Its mouthpiece is made entirely of food-grade silicone and does not have any moving parts. The mouthpiece does not get stuck as it was the case with the Pax 1. Inside the vaporizer, vapor travels along a pathway made of entirely medical-grade components from a stainless steel oven that vaporizers your herb through conduction. The external shell is made of a brushed aluminum available in four different colors.
The overall build quality of Pax 3 is good, although all of the most important components seem to be exactly the same as those on the Pax 2. Some of these similar components include the mouthpiece, vapor pathway and the heating chamber. The exterior shell looks the same as that of the Pax 2, but has a glossy finish.
One of the very unique features of the Pax 2 is that it is smart vaporizer. It comes with a lip sensing technology and an accelerometer that tells the unit when you are vaping or not, dynamically adjusting the temperature to conserve your herbs and battery life. The unit also boasts an auto shut-off time that shuts it down after three minutes of no movement.
When it comes to technology, the Pax 3 is more advanced. First, it makes use of a Vapor App that uses Bluetooth to pair your Smartphone. The Vapor app allows you to name your Pax, dial in the exact vaping temperature as well as enhance various modes that can come in hand for different scenarios, such as stealth, flavor, boost and efficiency modes. The Pax 3 also features “Haptic Feedback”, such as vibrating when the selected temperature is reached, as well as intuitive functions, such as shaking it to check on the remaining battery level. These features are not available on its predecessor the Pax 2.
PAX 2 vs. PAX 3 Vaporizer Heating
The heating chamber of the Pax 2 is made of stainless steel and is found at the bottom of the unit. To load it, you have to pop it off, turn it upside and then pack it. For the most efficient vaporization, you have to fill it all the way since the oven vaporizes the herb through conduction. When fully packed, the Pax 2 oven holds roughly 0.30 to 0.40 grams of herbs depending on how coarse or fine the grind is, with the half-pack lid the oven holds 0.15 to 0.20 grams. It takes 30 to 50 seconds to heat up, depending on the battery’s current charge level. You need to wait 5 to 10 seconds for it to get back up to vaporization temperature between draws.
Just like the Pax 2, the oven or heating chamber of the Pax 3 is suited at the bottom of the bottom of the unit. The Pax 3 comes with three different oven lids or chamber covers, of which two are for dry herbs and the other for concentrates. Initial heat up takes 10 to 15 seconds depending on the battery’s current level. After the initial heat up, the Pax 3 gets back up to temperature instantly between inhales making it an efficient session vape. Faster heating time means that materials in your oven spend less time hot, so more goes in, and less goes out into the air.
The Pax 2 features four different temperature settings which 360F (182C) – Low, 380F (193C) – Medium, 400F (204C) – Medium-High and 420F (216C) – High. You can change the temperatures manually by holding down the top mouthpiece button for about 2 seconds. Once you have the right temperature, hold the button again for 2 seconds to switch back to the vaping mode.
The Pax 3 vaporizer like the Pax 2 comes with 4 pre-set temperatures 360F (182C) – Low, 380F (193C) – Medium, 400F (204C) – Medium-High and 420F (216C) – High. However, it also includes a fifth temperature setting that can be customized to be anywhere between 182C to 216C. The Pax 3 also heats up much quicker than the Pax 2. It takes a maximum of 15 minutes to get to the set temperature, which is really fast when it comes to portable vaporizers. The vaporizers heats up instantly between inhales, which makes more faster than the Pax 2, which takes 10 to 15 seconds to heat up between inhales.
The vapor path in the Pax 2 is made of stainless steel and is fully separated from internal components. Air in the bowl gets pulled directly from the outside via the oven lid, gets channeled in the isolated vapor path and then finishes by coming out via the mouthpiece. The vapor path is cleaned by soaking one of the included pipe cleaners in ISO alcohol and just sticking it via your vapor path while rubbing it.
For the Pax 3, the vapor path remains the same as the Pax 2. It is still made of stainless steel and separated from internal components. Air in the bowl gets pulled directly from the outside via the oven lid, gets channeled in the isolated vapor path and then finishes by coming out via the mouthpiece. You will need the supplied pipe cleaners and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the vapor path.
The Pax 2 mouthpiece is located at the opposite side of the unit far away from the oven to cool the vapor extremely well. There are two options for the mouthpiece: one flat and the other raised. Both mouthpieces are made of food grade silicone and require no maintenance. While the flat mouthpiece cools the vapor pretty well, the raised mouthpiece does not cool the vapor. This is because only one of the two holes in the mouthpiece is connected to the vapor path.
Just like the Pax 2, the Pax 3 vaporizer’s mouthpiece is found at the opposite side of the unit, far away from the oven to cool the vapor extremely well. There are also two mouthpiece options: the flat and raised mouthpieces. Both mouthpieces are made of food-grade silicone. However, the raised mouthpiece does not get hot as it was the case with the Pax 2. In fact, the raised mouthpiece is more comfortable than the flat mouthpiece.
PAX 2 vs. PAX 3 Vaporizer Battery
The Pax 2 uses a Micro USB charging system that allows you to charge it practically anywhere. From a dead battery, you will need about 3 hours to have your unit fully charge if you are charging via USB through a computer for example. However, if you use a 2 amp wall adapter, then the charge time to 100 percent charge will reduce to about 2 hours.
Just like the Pax 2, the Pax 3 uses a micro USB charging system. The Pax 3 takes 95 and 105 minutes to fully charge from a completely dead. This is very fast when compared to other portable vaporizers in the same class.
The Pax 2 uses a 3000 mAh battery that is estimated to be 30 percent more efficient when compared to the previous Pax models. Once the batteries are 100 percent charged, they can work for 90 minutes continuously without any problems of inefficiency or overheating.
The Pax 3 vaporizer on the other hand uses a 3500 mAh battery that is estimated to be 17 percent more efficient than the 3000 mAh battery in the Pax 2. You can get an average of 5 to 7 vape sessions on a full charge, which is about 100 minutes of continuous use. This is more than enough battery life for a full day’s worth of activities, and the Pax 3 will fully recharge from dead in about 100 minutes.
PAX 2 vs. PAX 3 Usability
Ease of Use
The Pax 2 has an extremely simple user interface. A single, hidden button in the mouthpiece controls everything while the signature “X” tells you all you need to know. To turn the Pax 2 on, just push the button once, push it again to turn the unit off. To change temperature settings, just hold the button for a second. The Pax symbol on the front of the device consists of four LED lights that inform you the temperature, the battery level and whether the unit is ready to vape, heating up or in standby mode. To exit temperature mode or check the battery life, you just need to shake the device.
The Pax 3 is even easier to use than the Pax 2. To turn on the unit, press the center of the mouthpiece at the top of the unit. To choose the temperature, press and hold the power button while the unit is turned on. Once you have chosen your desired temperature setting, press and hold the power button again to set the temperature and exit the temperature select menu. The unit will automatically begin to heat up to your preferred temperature. Once the device reaches its set temperature, it vibrates, the light will turn green and you can begin to take draws to your mouthpiece.
Whilst the design of the Pax 2 is very similar to that of the original Pax, it has been improved in many ways. The external shell is principally striking and is appears polished and more mordern. The Pax 2 is small and lighter making discreet and portable. Despite its small size, the Pax 2 comes with a bigger battery life than the original giving you up to 90 minutes of vaping time. The Pax 2 not only looks great, but also tastes great too.
The Pax 3 has even greater user impressions than the Pax 2. Upon opening the box, you certainly realize why the Pax is known as the Apple of the Vaporizer Marketing. The Packaging is slick and immaculately put together, so much that it feels travesty to open it up and take everything out. The Pax 3 comes in at the same dimensions as the Pax 2, which makes it a perfect unit for carrying it around in anything from pockets to backpacks.
The design choice gives the Pax 3 an ultramodern appearance. The only button on this vaporizer is within the mouthpiece that you press for different functions. The unit itself is well- built. Its body is made of anodized aluminum body and has high polished finish that is nice to touch. The combination of high quality construction and a smooth look and feel makes the Pax 3, a perfect vaporizer for anywhere you may find yourself.
PAX 2 vs. PAX 3 Vaporizer Maintenance
Cleaning and Care
Cleaning the Pax 2 is quick and very basic. The unit comes with a nice cleaning kit that makes cleaning quite easy and fast. Use the pipe cleaner and the provided cleaning fluid to keep Pax 2 and airways nice and clean. For optimal performance, make sure you give your unit a clean after 10 to 15 vaping sessions.
The cleaning and care of the Pax 3 vaporizer is even easier than that of the Pax 2. The device comes with its own cleaning kit like its predecessor the Pax 2. You need to brush out the chamber after a vape session, remove the herbs from the chamber as soon as you are done. This will reduce the need the need of constant cleaning and bad odors. Use the provided pipe cleaners and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the vapor path. Always wait for the unit to dry before using it again.
The Pax 2 comes with one of the best warranties in the vaporizer industry at 10 years. They always have been awesome to deal with and quick to fix any problems no matter what it may be.
Just like the Pax 2, the Pax 3 comes with a 10 year warranty, making one of the best warranties in the vaporizer industry. Ensure you buy your Pax 3 from an authorized dealer so as to get the 10 year warranty.
PAX 3 – Pax Vapor App
Functionality and How the Vapor App Works
The Pax Vapor App enables you to customize your vape sessions with different heating profiles and specific temperature settings. The five different heating modes include:
- Boost Mode: This heating profile keeps the oven hotter for an extended period with less auto cooling. The boost mode is very important if you are using the Pax with a water pipe adapter, or you are looking for denser clouds or just looking for a faster session.
- Efficiency mode: This heating profile ramps up the oven temp throughout the vaping sessions. It gradually increases temperature over time. Note that the temperature keeps going up to 420C, so be careful. The efficiency mode is ideal for conserving bud.
- Stealth Mode: This heating profile increases cooling and allows for stealthy light quick hits.
- Flavor Mode: This heating mode preserves the flavors while heating your herbs and while you are taking a drag.
- Standard Mode: This is the default mode that is common with those who own the Pax 2. In this heating profile, the oven heats up 5 to10 degrees when you start puffing on it. Using the Vapor App, you now get to see the exact temperature of the unit in real time.
How to Use the Pax 3 Vaporizer
Here are steps to follow when using your Pax 3:
- Load the material. To this, first remove the oven lid located at the bottom of the vaporizer. Using the multi-tool, firmly pack the ground material inside the oven until it is at least half full. Place the oven lid back on the device. Turn on the device
